The reason I wanted to post a blog today was because I came across this image on their page;
A lot of society has the unconscious mind-set that men are better than women. This may seem a bit far-fetched, but if you pay attention to phrases people use and the way people act toward each other, you'll probably see it. I know I have definitely been affected by it, but we are taught that being male is an improvement on being female. Often, women who do 'masculine' things get praised as being professional, or the opposite, they get a good lot of 'aww, isn't it cute, she thinks she's people'.
It's becoming now that men are the silent abused, and society has pushed on them that they aren't allowed to stand up for what they believe in, and they're not allowed to admit that they're being bullied (because people don't think it's bullying, and 'if it's upset you then you're just weak' (I'd like to also note I don't understand why strong people are supposedly better than weak people? What are we - gazelles?)).
These boys showed how early gender sterotypes affect children, and why it's so important to encourage an genderless childhood, where children are not forced to be boys or girls, but just encouraged to be people. Have a good look at that list. Think about how young 'boys' feel they're 'supposed to like violence' and how that might affect them, regardless of weather they do or not.
